The Weekly Cathedral Math Challenge
For the week from 25-10-2025 till …
The Problem of the Week (POTW) series was an initiative started by the Cathedral Mathematics Society, with the aim of fostering a love for problem-solving and encouraging students to think creatively beyond the school syllabus. Each week, participants are challenged with unique mathematical problems that test logic, reasoning, and ingenuity. Through this initiative, the Society hopes to make mathematics more engaging, collaborative, and enjoyable for everyone.
All problems featured in the Problem of the Week (POTW) are sourced from the CEMC Waterloo archives. This initiative by the Cathedral Mathematics Society aims solely to promote Student engagement with these questions.

Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers” and “Numbers have life; they’re not just symbols on paper”. She also said, “As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality”
